This gut renovation of a 1500 SF apartment located in a townhouse one block from Central Park created a legal 3-bedroom from an ad hoc combination of two apartments by moving the kitchen from the front of the apartment to the center of the apartment. Not only did the design improve use, efficiency, and storage, but also created layers of public and private zones more typical in a house than an apartment.
