This 1960s, 400+ unit Coop on the Upper West Side of Manhattan conducted a competition for their lobby renovation approximately ten years after they had completed one. They were unhappy with the results of the previous renovation, particularly its functionality, lighting, outdated aesthetics, and the evident wear. H2 Architects emerged as the winning architect not only for their intelligent reorganization of the layout but also for their thoughtful design and sensitivity to the building context. The work commences construction in April 2014. H2 is working closely with the client and the GC in order to maintain all operations (including mail/packages, building management, and circulation) during construction in a building with many young children and a large geriatric population.
